My Knives
I currently use D2 tool steel exclusively for all of my knife models. I believe it serves well for the intended use of my knives. I do plan on trying other steels as time goes on and compare them to D2. I heat treat and cryogenically treat all of my knives. In early 2009 I started cryogenically treating my knives to give them an extra 1-2 points hardness on the Rockwell scale. I triple draw (temper) my knives after heat treating. With this process I have found a good combination that allows my knives to keep their edge for a very long time. I have yet to receive any negative feedback on my knives edge holding ability, I've heard only praise.
I draw out and design all of my own knives. I'd be lying if I said I don't take ideas from other knifemaker's knives, for we all do this. Some models prove more fruitful than others; take for example my Model #6 and #6-L, my deer knives. This knife is very ergonomically friendly to your hand when using it and due to this it's my best selling knife.
By the end of 2009 I will have completed a liner lock folder or two. I'm hoping these prove successful as I want to get more involved with making folders, both liner lock and slipjoint. This will be a new arena for me so I'm excited about the possibilities.
